Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has extended until the end of June the deadline for aviation firms to submit their proposals for licences for operating both domestic and international services from the kingdom, Arab News has reported. The regulator said the move aims to provide interested investors additional incentives and benefits in order to make the sector more attractive and beneficial for them. “The extension will not delay the launch of services by the companies that win the licenses. The authority will cut short the period for review and scrutiny of proposals to compensate the delay caused by the deadline extension,” said GACA.

Boeing Co has said a delay of more than three years to deliver new B777 jets is crimping sales of the wide-body aircraft, and said it plans to boost production of the twin-engine jet to 8.3 per month by the first quarter of next year from seven now, Bloomberg has reported. “That’s probably our biggest challenge in the sales department right now,” said John Wojick, chief of Boeing’s North American sales. “To be honest with you, if we could build more today, we could sell more today.”

      <![CDATA[
Emirates Airline has selected Avtech Middle East to help the Dubai-based carrier in the area of Performance Based Operations (PBO). The Emirates FLOW-project is expected to result in more effective air traffic flow and capacity management, as well as reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The system will allow Emirates to, initially starting from two hours from Dubai, strategically sequencing aircraft based on business and operational requirements. The expected result of the project will be that Emirates aircraft, which account for a large percentage of the traffic to Dubai International, are sequenced correctly from an airline business standpoint as well as for ATC prior to entering UAE airspace, Avtech said.
